James Goodman — Founder, BuiltforDental
I spent a decade in banking and wealth management. I learned how businesses grow, how numbers tell the truth about what's working and what isn't, and how to build systems that deliver measurable results — not just activity that looks productive.
When I left banking, I built my own businesses. I worked with clients across the US, Europe, the UK, and the Middle East — building websites, online directories, and digital platforms from scratch. Not as a hobby. As businesses that needed to generate real traffic and real revenue to survive. Some of those directories still rank on page one and generate traffic. That's where I learned SEO — not from a course, but from building things that had to work.
Along the way, I went deep on the technical side. Search engine optimisation, AI search visibility, generative engine optimisation, site performance, conversion-focused design. I learned what actually moves the needle for a website: not how it looks in a portfolio, but whether it shows up when someone searches, and whether that person picks up the phone when they land on it.
Then I looked at the dental industry.
I saw practices paying agencies $10,000 or more for websites that took months to deliver. Sites built on bloated templates with no SEO strategy behind them. Beautiful designs that didn't rank for a single procedure keyword in their own city. Agencies selling “digital marketing” that amounted to a Facebook post twice a week and a logo on a stock photo.
The gap was obvious. Dental practices don't need a website vendor. They need a patient acquisition system — a site that's built to rank for the procedures they want to grow, in the area they serve, and that turns searchers into booked appointments. That's a fundamentally different thing from what most agencies deliver.
BuiltforDental exists to close that gap. Every site we build starts with competitor research and procedure-level keyword analysis for your specific market. The copy is written to match what patients are actually searching for — not what sounds good in a boardroom. The technology stack is chosen for speed and performance, because a site that loads in under two seconds keeps patients on the page, and Google rewards that with better rankings.
We don't do six-month timelines. We don't do design-by-committee. We don't hand you a WordPress login and wish you luck. Your site is researched, written, built, and live within days — and every decision in the build is made to attract more patients.
That's what a decade in business taught me. If you can't measure it, it's not working. And if it's not getting patients through your door, it doesn't matter how good it looks.
